The state's top classification stayed the same for the first week of the season after going 9-0 Friday night. No. 1 Colquitt County topped Pelham 65-21 and No. 2 Grayson dominated a previously-unbeaten Parkview team 49-10. No. 3 Archer and No. 4 Roswell enjoyed a bye week, while No. 5 Mill Creek and No. 6 McEachern pitched shutouts over Duluth (41-0) and Lovejoy (38-0), respectively.

In Class AAAAA, Stockbridge moved to No. 3 after Jones County's 36-22 loss to Northside-Warner Robins on Thursday. Stephenson used a 49-12 thrashing over Creekside to make its debut at No. 8 and undefeated Northgate replaced Glynn Academy at No. 10 after the Terrors' 22-0 loss to No. 9 Coffee and Northgate's third shutout of the season.

In Class AAAA, Spalding's 23-20 win over Eagle's Landing was enough to lift the No. 9 Jaguars into the poll for the first time this season.
