Week 4 Football Rankings

The top three stay the same once again, but Archer moves up to No. 4 after taking out Mill Creek in Hoschton, 16-13. Mill Creek falls only to sixth. South Forsyth, at 4-0, moves into the No. 10 slot after a 30-23 win over South Gwinnett. North Cobb and Mountain View had byes, while the Lowndes-Shiloh game was postponed. Norcross falls out of the rankings with a 21-point loss to North Gwinnett. Grayson picked up a nice win over John Curtis of Louisiana, and Colquitt County blanked Roswell at home to stay perfect.

Three of the top four teams in AAAAAA had byes this week, and Lee County blew out Americus-Sumter, so there was no change among those four. Mays moves to No. 5 after beating Langston Hughes on the road, and Hughes falls behind Northside-Warner Robins to seventh. Lovejoy is out after a one-point loss to AAAA Spalding, and Northgate is out after getting shut out by Douglas County, which moves to No. 9. Alpharetta, whose only loss is to AAAAAAA North Gwinnett by three points, moves back into the rankings after wins over Gainesville and Centennial.

Defending champion Cedar Grove overtakes Greater Atlanta Christian as the top-team in Class AAA. The Saints handled Columbia, 33-0, to move to 3-0 on the season entering region play against No. 8 Lovett this Friday. Peach County got back on track with a 47-19 win over local-rival Perry after falling to Warner Robins the week before. GAC settled to third after a loss to Colorados Valor Christian. No. 4 Dawson County rested last week and will face West Hall this Friday. Jenkins enters the Top-5 after defeating Liberty County 43-41 on Thursday night, avenging last years loss to the Panthers.

After a 48-7 win over Southeast Bulloch, Benedictine is still in control of Class AA. Hapeville Charter, which moved past Wesleyan 35-0 last week, is in second. Rabun County, which won convincingly against White County last week, 49-26, is in the third spot. Fourth-ranked Screven County was scheduled to face Statesboro last week but the game was canceled due to Hurricane Irma. No. 5 Thomasville, which also rested last week, faces Worth County on Friday.

ELCA continues to dominate with yet another win over a higher-classification opponent, this time a 30-point beating of AAA Hart County on the road. Wesleyan loses for the first time this season, but it was to a loaded Hapeville Charter (AA) team. Darlington drops out after its second loss, to Heard County. Aquinas just edges out Mt. Pisgah for the final spot; the Fighting Irish havent played since Aug. 25 but have a blowout win over AA Laney on the resume.
