WEEK EIGHT RANKINGS: Several polls feature new teams at the top

Region play has started separating the contenders from the pretenders, and the latest rankings are proof of just that. The Buford boys fell to GAC once again, and a loss to Whitefield Academy dropped the Wolves out of the Class AA top spot that they had held since early on in the season. Once A.J. Davis shakes off the rust, expect the Wolves to take aim once again at the top spot. Whitefield Academy is also the new No. 1 in Class A. In Class AAAAA, Milton remains on top with Shiloh at No. 2 despite a recent loss to Berkmar.Norcross just missed making the top ten as the Blue Devils are starting to turn it on in region play. Douglas County is slowly rising thanks to a fast start to the season.

In Class AAAAA, the Parkview girls continue to climb after another week of impressive showings. Alpharetta also moved up a spot in the girls poll. Marietta could be a team to watch the over the next few weeks. Morgan County is the new Class AA No. 1, and the girls Class AAAA and AAA received a bit of a shakeup near the tops of each poll. Statesboro and Alcovy are the hot teams in AAAA while St. Pius X and Westover climbed in AAA. Allatoona is also a school to watch in AAA.
