WEEK SIX RANKINGS: Milton recaptures top spot

As schools come back from holiday break, high school basketball kicks into high gear with region play. Several schools hope to use deep holiday tournament runs to build momentum for a strong region schedule. Shiloh suffered its first loss of the year to Alabama power Carver (Ala.) at the Centennial Hoops In Overdrive Shootout. The Milton Eagles, meanwhile, are back at full strength and have put three forfeits due to an ineligible player behind them. Milton seems to be clicking now and has thus slipped past Shiloh to recapture the top spot in boys Class AAAAA. Early County moves into the Class AA poll after averaging 88 points per game thus far this year.The Wesleyan girls, meanwhile, defeated St. Pius X just after New Years Day, and the Lady Wolves are hoping that history repeats itself. Last year a victory over Pius kick-started a 21-game winning streak en route to the state title.
