BREAKING: GHSA approves/denies reclassification appeals at offices in Thomaston

Four 7A programs, one 6A program, two 5A programs, three 4A programs, five 3A programs and two 2A programs were granted reclassification appeals Monday morning in Thomaston.

The remaining 38 teams appealing their reclassification were denied. The GHSA has released the new-look classifications here.

Osborne, Meadowcreek, Lakeside-Evans and Arabia Mountain (5A) were the programs slated for the highest class (7A) to have their appeals approved. In Class 6A, Drew was the only program to have their appeal approved, which Creekside, Johns Creek, Thomas County Central and Northside-Columbus were denied.

Douglass-Atlanta and Central-Macon (3A) were approved to move down from Class 5A and KIPP Atlanta, Johnson-Savannah and Cross Creek were approved in the 4A time slot.

Savannah Christian, Putnam County, Mount Vernon, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe and Gordon Central received approvals to move down from Class 3A. Twiggs County and Lanier County were the only programs to receive appeals in Class 2A.
