While the GHSA football playoffs are in full swing, the basketball season is getting underway. The state of Georgia is loaded with talent and is in store for one of the best seasons in recent memory.

Wheeler is loaded with talent, but the top player on the team is top-30 prospect and UConn commit Colben Landrew. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound shooting guard is the top player in the state, highly recruited, and will lead a Wheeler team with multiple other Division I prospects and championship aspirations.

Manny Green is Cedar Grove’s star shooting guard and is the top player on a Cedar Grove team looking to win its first championship since 1997. The Saints are the defending runners-up and lost to powerhouse Sandy Creek 39-38. The team has been one of the top programs in 3A for years but has struggled to beat Sandy Creek; however, this year could be the year.

Defending 5A state champion Tri-Cities looks poised to make another run at a state title, and the Bulldogs will be led by Jalen Wingfield. Tri-Cities dominated 5A last year and won its third title since 2019. Wingfield, a Georgia Tech commit, holds over 15 offers and is one of the nations top small-forward prospects.

Only a year after losing 5-star Caleb Williams, Holy Innocents’ is once again the favorite to win the championship in the private classification. A major reason is guard Kingston Whitty. Whitty, a West Virginia commit, has been one of the top guards the state has seen in years.

St. Pius has been playing great basketball as of late. A major reason for that is 6-foot-5 shooting guard Harris Reynolds. The Clemson commit is a three-level scorer who continues to draw more and more attention from both opposing high schools and colleges recruiters.
