Greene County legend Josh Nesbitt will be inducted into the 2025 Class of the Georgia High School Football Hall of Fame on October 25 where he will join former Georgia Tech teammates and 2024 inductees Demaryius Thomas and Jonathan Dwyer in history.

During his high school career at Greene County, Nesbitt was formidable.

He played at Greene County from 2003 to 2007 and was the state’s top recruit at the quarterback position and the No. 12 QB in the nation. He was highly regarded after his junior season where he passed for 2,833 yards and 31 touchdowns with 1,252 rushing yards and 22 touchdown runs. During his senior season, he was 134-of-222 passing for 2,256 yards and 32 touchdowns with just four interceptions. He had 93 carries for 493 yards and eight touchdowns during his senior campaign.

Nesbitt took his talents to Georgia Tech and they fit perfectly in newly hired head coach Paul Johnson’s triple-option offense, where he earned the starting position during his sophomore season in 2008. As a junior in 2009, he rushed for 1,037 yards and 18 touchdowns while passing for 1,701 yards and 10 touchdowns while leading the Yellow Jackets to the Orange Bowl, where Tech lost to Iowa. Nesbitt was named the 2009 ACC first-team quarterback, joining Nesbitt and Thomas on the ACC’s all-conference team.

His senior season at Georgia Tech was shortened by injury but not before Nesbitt finished with 2,806 rushing yards, more yards than any ACC or Georgia Tech quarterback in either institution’s history. His 35 rushing touchdowns accounted for six more than any other ACC quarterback in its history and 16 more than any Georgia Tech quarterback prior.
