East Coweta bests defending-champion Camden at GHSA Riflery Championship

East Cowetas victory in the GHSA riflery state championship marked the programs third overall title as the season ended at the Ware County Shooting Complex in Waycross Saturday.

East Coweta finished atop two-time defending champion Camden County and 2012 riflery champion Lumpkin County. The Indians scored 2,323 to beat out Camden (2,320) and Lumpkin (2,293).Statesboro's Katlyn Sullivan defended her individual title (467.5 points) ahead of East Coweta's Aubrey Hancock (458.5) and Lumpkin's Brynn Foster (448.7).

Camden County won its first riflery title in 2023 when the program set the GHSA team record of 1,175 points before defending its title last season. East Cowetas first title was in 2000 before the Indians won again in 2016. The Indians moved through Hiram 1169-946 and Kendrick 1170-69, 1126-39 in the playoffs to earn the championship berth.
