The Georgia Elite Classic is taking place at Rome's Barron Stadium Saturday and Sunday with 10 games that showcase some of the best tackle and flag football talent around the state.

The final four games on Sunday featured All-Star teams consisting of freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior teams. Follow the link for full stats from each of the games or check out the Sunday recaps below.

Senior All-Stars

Gold Team 52, Blue Team 17

It has been a rarity to see lopsided games in the Georgia Elite Classic’s history but the Gold Team took advantage of miscues on the defensive side while finding an offensive rhythm during a romp of the Blue Team in the opening game of the day.

The Gold Team’s defense scored on fumbles returned 69 and 26 yards and an interception returned 61 yards to keep the Blue Team at bay.

Crisp County linebacker Jordan Fox put the Blue Team ahead on a 38-yard interception returned for a touchdown with 14:18 left in the first quarter.

The Gold Team tied the game with 12:15 left in the first quarter when Bleckley County lineman Kamareius Pasby returned an interception 26 yards for a score. Trinity Christian receiver DeShaun Dumas scored on a seven-yard run to give the Gold Team the lead.

Dacula quarterback Garrison Cantrell passed to Fayette County’s Jesse Halton on a 16-yard score to tie the game at 14-14. Fernando Tavares kicked a 37-yard field goal to put the Gold Team ahead 17-14. Edwards passed to Lincoln County’s Jeremiah Wynn to put the Gold ahead 24-14 with 8:04 left in the second quarter.

Georgia Military’s Walt Greene returned an interception 61 yards to expand the margin with 6:40 left in the first half, giving the Gold Team a 31-14 lead at the break. Edwards expanded that lead on a three-yard run midway through the third quarter and with time expiring at the end of the third, Sprayberry’s Noah Voltaire returned a fumble 69-yards for a score.

Edwards scored on a 15-yard run to bring the Gold Team to its final tally while Marietta kicker Cole Baumgarter kicked a 35-yard field goal with 1:25 left for the Blue Team, capping scoring.

Junior All-Stars

Blue Team 31, Gold Team 28

Two key fourth-quarter touchdowns and gritty late-game defense by the Gold Team thwarted any chance of a comeback from the Blue Team in the second game of the Georgia Elite Classic’s final day.

The Blue Team led 10-0 after the first quarter and 17-7 at the half but was held scoreless in the third quarter while the Gold Team scored two unanswered touchdowns to take a 21-17 lead entering the fourth quarter.

The Blue Team went ahead on a short run from Bleckley County’s Zyion Love with 11:16 left in the first quarter. Prince Avenue kicker Joey Black made a 25-yard field goal to extend the lead to 10-0. Troup’s Javarris Warner scored on a four-yard run with 11:22 left in the second quarter to put the Blue Team ahead 17-0.

The Gold Team found answers with a 31-yard pass from Athens Academy’s Keyon Standifer to Pike County’s Tucker Saporita just before halftime.  Alpharetta product Matthew Schletty capped a 13-play, 70-yard drive with a short touchdown run to leave the Gold Team trailing 17-14 with 7:45 left in the third quarter.

Standifer caught a 61-yard pass from Mary Persons quarterback Jordan Singleton with 2:55 left in the third quarter to give the Gold Team its first lead of the game, 21-17. Love regained the lead on a 20-yard run to cap a nine-play, 70-yard drive early in in the fourth quarter to put the Blue Team ahead 24-21.

Bleckley quarterback Brody Fleming passed to Troup’s Davis Moncus to expand the Blue Team’s lead to 31-21 with 10:25 left.  Schletty passed to North Hall’s Cole Cable on a 30-yard touchdown with 7:44 left to cut into the lead 31-28, but the Gold Team could not manage any more offensive production.

Freshman All-Stars

Blue Team 35, Gold Team 14

The Blue Team held its opponent scoreless through nearly three full quarters of play while finding an unmatched offensive rhythm to secure victory in the penultimate game of the final day of the Georgia Elite Classic.

Pickens product Cal Morrison opened scoring with 8:35 left in the second quarter on a 37-yard interception returned for a touchdown to put the Blue Team ahead. Lanier’s Bo Benton scored on an 11-yard run with 11:20 left in the third quarter to push the lead to 14-0.

Franklin County quarterback Knox Whitworth passed to North Oconee’s Nate Jones on a 25-yard touchdown to give the Blue Team a 21-0 lead with 7:25 left in the third quarter.

Athens Davenport, a Cartersville product, scored on a three-yard run with 1:49 left in the third quarter to put the Blue Team ahead 28-0. The Gold Team got on the board with five seconds left in the third quarter on a 26-yard pass from Lassiter quarterback Caden Jones to his Lassiter teammate Luke Thomas to cut into the lead.

Davenport scored again on a short run with 7:28 left in the game and with 4:04 remaining, Jones passed to Buford’s Christian Bridges to leave the Gold Team trailing 35-14, capping scoring.

Sophomore All-Stars

Gold Team 30, Blue Team 24

The Sophomore Gold Team relied on key field goal kicking from Walton’s Matthew Manning and quality quarterback play from Union County quarterback Kamden Kendrick to lead the Gold Team to victory in the final game of the Georgia Elite Classic.

And a nine-yard touchdown pass from Kendrick to Washington County’s Jordan Edwards with 3:09 remaining proved to be the game-winner.

The Gold Team trailed 7-3 at the end of the first quarter after a 32-yard touchdown pass from Northgate’s Ledger Clements to Collin Hill’s Evan Taylor and a 22-yard field goal from Manning. The Gold trailed 14-9 entering halftime after a 53-yard pass from Clements to Zay’Vielle Jones, a Riverdale receiver, put the Blue ahead 14-6. Manning’s 25-yard field goal as time expired left the Blue Team leading 14-9.

Kendrick’s three-yard touchdown pass to Washington County’s Aiden Watts with 11:45 left in the third quarter gave the Gold Team a lead, 16-14 at the time, that it would not relinquish.

Kendrick passed to Union County’s Mikey Davis with 14:24 left in the game to expand the Gold Team’s lead to 23-14. The Blue Team narrowed the margin to 23-21 with 11:05 left in the game after a 23-yard pass from Northgate quarterback Ledger Clements to Archer’s Robbie Dunn Jr.

Branson Adams kicked a 43-yard field goal to get the Blue Team within one point, 24-23, with 6:13 left before the Gold Team was able to mount the game-winning, 8-play, 70-yard drive which ate 3:04 of the final minutes of the game.
