The AAU team Georgia Stars recently took home the 2025 Peach Jam 15U championship. The Stars are filled with talent from all around the peach state, and this is their second-straight Peach Jam title with the same group of guys winning the 14U championship last year. They defeated Team Takeover 70-66 in the championship game.
The 2028 talent throughout the state was on full display with the starting five of the team in particular being one of the biggest stories in the state.
Top-20 recruit in the country (ESPN) Peter Julius was a force down low. The Star’s big man plays at Mount Bethel High School where he led the Eagles to the second round of the private classification playoffs. In the championship, Julius used his massive frame to record 12 rebounds and added three blocks. The center is listed as 6-foot-9 and 215 pounds according to ESPN and is the third-ranked player in the state in the Class of 2028.
Culen Browne is another talented player who showed out in South Carolina. Brown plays at the Wilson Academy, and helped the team to an 18-10 record last season. In one of his best games last season, he had 24 points and four rebounds in a loss to Huntington Prep as a part of Grind Session, a season long tournament. During the tournament, he was one of the top performers, notably he had 14 points (tied with Julius for second on the team) in the semifinal win. He showed out in some of Wilson Academy's offseason games which ended with him getting an offer from Virginia Tech.
Jaden McCullough might just be the most underrated player in the state. The Holy Innocents' guard got overshadowed last season by the upperclassmen talent that the Golden Bears have, but do not overlook him as he gets older. He plays as a team guy, and led the Peach Jam in assists per game heading into this past weekend (was tied for first). Not only that, but he had a plus/minus of 114 over that same stretch. For the Golden Bears, he recorded 10 points, five assists, and three steals in the team’s semifinal win over Mount Paran. In the GBCA live southeast regional he put on a show, averaging 14.8 points over four games. He will not be underrated for much longer and the in-state Georgia Bulldogs already took notice of this and offered him.
Jonesboro-star Calvin Goss is yet another underrated guard in the state of Georgia, and averaged 10.1 points per game as a freshman (per MaxPreps). Jonesboro went 22-9 last season in a talented 4A class and went all the way to the quarterfinals. Goss is a knockdown shooter and showed that at the GBCA live period upset win over 5A semifinalist Woodward Academy. He ended that game with 21 points.
Easily the star of the tournament (and eventual MVP) was Dutchtown’s AJ Williams. Williams is the second-ranked player in the Class of 2028 and starred at Dutchtown in his freshman season. He averaged 18 points and was named 5A’s Freshman of the Season according to Kyle Sandy. He was also his region’s co-player of the season as just a freshman. Dutchtown went all the way to the Elite 8 with Williams. He dominated all throughout EYBL, notching star performance after performance all AAU season. Williams dropped 28 points in the championship game which led the team. He also showed out and won a gold medal with team USA at the FIBA World Cup 15U championship games this offseason. Although he is still listed as an athlete at Dutchtown High School, rumors are circulating that Williams might have transferred after he was not active with the team at the GBCA live period. He also reposted something on his Instagram stating as such; "Wherever Williams ends up he will be a star."
The five players are all some of the most talented players, not just in the state, but in the country. They will be the future of Georgia high school basketball in what might be the most stacked class of players in a long time. The Class of 2028 in Georgia has three players ranked in the top 20 in the country (including the number one player in the country in Pace Academy's Bentley Lusakueno). The upcoming season will certainly have all eyes on the exciting class.
