When the Ole Miss Rebels travel to Athens to take on the Georgia Bulldogs, it will be a game with huge College Football Playoff implications. But it is also a homecoming for several Georgia natives. Much of the core of the Rebels’ high-powered offense hails from the Peach State, along with four of their seven leading pass-catchers.
The most notable Georgia recruit on the Ole Miss roster is WR/TE Caleb Odom. Odom played his prep career at Carrollton High School. He led the Trojans to a state championship appearance in Georgia’s highest classification. Odom was a MaxPreps All-American selection, ending his high school career as a high four-star prospect. Odom finished as a top ten player in Georgia and a top two tight end nationally.
Mississippi also leans heavily on two more tight ends from Georgia.
Dae’Quan Wright is the Rebels’ starting TE and second-leading receiver. A Perry HS product, Wright was a 247 Sports four-star prospect and a top twenty TE in the nation coming out of high school. As a senior, Wright took Perry on a deep playoff run where he played quarterback, receiver, and punter. Hayden Bradley, a true freshman, was a three-star prospect and attended Buford. Last year, he was a part of a Buford squad that went undefeated in region play and ranked as a top three team in Georgia.
Mississippi's third-leading receiver is Deuce Alexander, a Douglasville native. Alexander attended Douglas County HS where he was a three-star recruit. Alexander attended Wake Forest out of high school before transferring to Ole Miss with a four-star transfer rating. Alexander led Douglas County to the 6A playoffs as a senior.
Cayden Lee, another Ole Miss pass catcher, attended high school in Georgia. Lee is the Rebels fourth-leading receiver and was a three-star prospect out of Kennesaw Mountain HS. Lee was a top 50 player in Georgia coming out of the high school ranks.
The Rebels also have two preferred walk-ons from the Peach State. TE Wyatt Smalley attended Milton HS while LB Mark Trigg Jr. attended Roswell HS. As seniors, both Smalley and Trigg Jr. made deep playoff runs with their respective schools in 2022.
The final Georgia native on the Ole Miss roster is safety Nick Cull. The Donalsonville, Georgia native attended Seminole County HS and achieved a four-star rating as a recruit. Cull was also a top 50 player in Georgia out of high school.
On Saturday, when Ole Miss takes the field against the Dawgs, it’s an opportunity for several Rebels to show out in front of the state that raised them.
