In Class 6A, the top 1-5 did not shift this week. No. 1 ranked Wheeler opened up the season with a 77-65 victory over Tri-Cities on Saturday at the Tip Off Tournament hosted by Norcross. UConn-signee Colben Landrew (32), Shamar Madden (16) and Kevin Savage (14) all scored in double-figures for the Wildcats. No. 2 Grayson opened its season with top 10 wins over Pace Academy (77-56) and Winder-Barrow (76-45). At No. 3, McEachern defeated Newton 79-53 to start the year 1-0. Newton fell 57-45 to Wilson Academy after the loss to the Indians, but rebounded with a 63-54 win over Paideia. No. 4 Buford opens its season this Saturday against Towers and No. 5 Pebblebrook did not shift either after starting off the year 1-0 with a 73-71 overtime win against Decatur. The changes came with Cherokee jumping up from No. 9 to No. 6 and Berkmar moving up from No. 10 to No. 7. Additionally, Norcross and Peachtree Ridge were replaced by Meadowcreek and Westlake this week and Newton slid to No. 10.

Class 5A shifted with Chamblee replacing Winder-Barrow in the poll and Gainesville moving up to No. 4. Jonesboro replaced Pace Academy at No. 2 in Class 4A and ELCA replaced Maynard Jackson. In Class 3A, Westover replaced Westside-Augusta at No. 10. That Class 2A poll shifted with Franklin County replacing Laney in the poll. Class A Div. I and II did not shift this week and in Class A-3A Private Mt. Vernon debuted at No. 5 and Hebron Christian debuted at No. 10—replacing Greater Atlanta Christian and St. Francis.
