In Class 6A, No. 2 ranked Wheeler scored a 66-50 win over Class 5A No. 10 ranked Gainesville at the Hawks-Naismith Holiday Classic to improve to a 2-0 start. Newton lost 62-57 to Class 5A No. 2 ranked Woodward Academy in the Jared Cook Classic, but did not drop this week and is 3-1. No. 1 Grayson (2-0), No. 3 Norcross (3-0) and No. 5 Walton round out the top 5. As a result, Newtons narrow loss to Woodward is the only loss by the top 5 in Class 6A so far. Pebblebrook suffered a 70-68 loss to Class 4A No. 3 Kell and is now 3-2 on the year. Etowah rose to No. 7 after its 4-0 start, McEacherns 2-2 start has the Indians at No. 8 and South Gwinnett debuted this week after a 5-0 start that included a noteworthy 73-55 win over Class 5As Winder-Barrow.

In Class 5A, Woodward Academy improved to 2-0 with its win over Newton. Habersham Central moved up from No. 8 to No. 6 this week after a 3-0 start and Winder-Barrow slid from No. 7 to No. 9 after its 84-59 loss to newly-ranked South Gwinnett. The Class 4A poll did not shift as No. 1 ranked Pace Academy scored an impressive 78-70 win over Class A-3A Private No. 1 ranked Holy Innocents. Another significant result occurred in Class 3A with Cedar Grove scoring an 83-57 win over three-time defending state champion and former No. 1 Westside-Macon to take over the top spot. Cherokee Bluff moved up to No. 9 and Douglass replaced Johnson-Savannah after the Atomsmashers 79-69 loss to Bradwell Institute.

Class 2A introduced KIPP Atlanta at No. 8 after its impressive 84-77 win over Class 4A Westminster and Salem moved up to No. 9 after defeating Tucker 56-53. In Class A Div. 1, East Laurens replaced Banks County after opening its season with a 50-48 win over Calvary Day. The Class A Div. 2 poll saw Mitchell County move up two spots to No. 6 after its 2-0 start and 67-58 win over Early County. In Class A-3A Private, Mt. Paran replaced Paideia in the poll after its 2-1 start and Paideias tough 1-4 start.
