Former Dunwoody and Chattahoochee County head football coach, Michael Nash, passed away unexpectedly on Friday. Nash was 51.
Nash passed away following emergency surgery that had to be performed on Friday due to sudden organ failure.
The Dunwoody football program took to social media to remember Nash and everything he brought to the team during his 10 seasons at the helm.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Nash, known to so many as ‘Coach Nash,'” the post says, crediting him with building a football program and a family. “His legacy as a mentor, leader and friend will continue to live on in the lives of the countless players and families he impacted. Coach Nash, we love you.”
Nash began coaching Dunwoody in 2015 and was able to lead the Wildcats to their first playoff appearance since 2009 by finding their way into the first round in 2023 and 2024.
The veteran coach left the Wildcats in February and announced his plan to take over head coaching responsibilities at Chattahoochee County where he and the Panthers compiled a 3-4 record before his passing.
Nash will be missed around the multiple communities he was able to make an impact in during his coaching career.
