After two weeks of high school football, players have started to show how good they can be. A few names have stood out after monster performances in the first two weeks of the season, and those performances deserve to be acknowledged.
Ben Musser, Prince Avenue, QB
Ben Musser has been dominant through two weeks of the high school football season. The Prince Avenue starter has passed for 470 yards and five touchdowns, to go along with over 100 rushing yards and an additional touchdown. This week will be his biggest test, as the team faces off against Blessed Trinity in one of the week’s biggest games.
Davis Strickland, Morgan County, QB
Davis Strickland has picked up right where he left off last year. Through two games, he has thrown for 388 yards and three touchdowns. The most impressive thing about those stats is that they came in 43 and 32-point victories, meaning most of those yards were accumulated early before the run game took over. This week, they will face the toughest test of the season, squaring off with traditional power Oconee County.
Cooper Bazarsky, North Cobb Christian, RB
In the absence of Teddy Jarrard, North Cobb Christian has been just fine under the leadership of star running back Cooper Bazarsky. Bazarsky has started the season with back-to-back 200-yard rushing games. He has already rushed for 472 yards and six touchdowns while adding 50 yards receiving and an additional touchdown. The Eagles will travel to Coahulla Creek this week, trying to advance to 3-0.
Hudson Hulett, North Murray, ATH
Hudson Hulett is the Mountaineers’ Mr. Do-it-all. He is currently the team’s leading passer, leading rusher, and second-leading receiver. Hulett has put on a show on the ground, rushing for 457 yards and two touchdowns. Through the air, he has thrown for 193 yards, completing all 12 of his attempts for two touchdowns, he has also caught four passes for 127 yards. He gives flashes of former North Murray star Ladd McConkey. The team will be off this week before heading to Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe next week.
Davon Swinton, Stephens County, WR
Stephens County star receiver Davon Swinton is coming off a massive game vs. Elbert County. Swinton caught eight passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns, pushing his season totals to 226 yards and three touchdowns. This week, the Indians will host Cedar Shoals.
