Mays’ boys basketball isranked No. 6 and have put together a solid season only 14 games into the season, but a talented and deep Class 4A has many obstacles.

The Raiders are 11-3 on the season and put together a nine-game winning streak earlier in the season, defeating teams such as Paideia, Douglass, McDonough, Newton, Drew, Maynard Jackson, Forest Park, M.L. King as well as taking down the Class A-Division I state champions from a year ago, B.E.S.T. Academy.

While it's still early in the season, the Raiders are undefeated in Region 4-4A play with a 5-0 record. Mays, along with Sharman White’s Pace Academy, are the only two undefeated teams in the region.

The Raiders are led by a pair of dynamic scorers in shooting guard Tiago Lee and combo guard Jack Sparks as the two have been highly efficient on the hardwood for Mays this season.

Lee shows great size for his position, standing at 6-foot-5, and has been on a tear thus far this season as he is averaging the second-most points in the classification, averaging 20.5 points per game on a 41% shooting percentage from the field.

According to MaxPreps, in the first game of the season for Mays, Lee scored 51 points on a 61% shooting percentage, hitting on 14 of his 23 shot attempts in the 98-79 victory over Eagle’s Landing High School. In that matchup, Lee also recorded 13 rebounds, stuffing the stat sheet and setting the tone for the Raiders early in the season.

Sparks does it all for the Raiders and is one of the most efficient guards in the classification, averaging close to 19 points per game, seven assists and just over five rebounds a game as he does it all for Mays.

The state-sheet-stuffer recorded a triple-double in the program's 71-58 victory over McDonough back in November, recording 15 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists helping lead Mays to a victory.

Lee and Sparks lead a talented Mays team that will be one to watch out for as Georgia high school basketball season kicks into high gear.
