Class 6A Blog: Eleven players named on TD Club of Atlanta Preseason All-Star Team

The football season opens up one week from tomorrow with the 34th annual Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic and preseason accolades are hitting the headlines across the state this week. The Touchdown Club of Atlanta released its 2025 Preseason All-Star Team on Monday that included six Class 6A players on the Offense (QB Travis Burgess, Grayson; RB Brayden Tyson, Brookwood; WR Aaron Gregory, Douglas County; OL Graham Houston, Buford; OL Zykie Helton, Carrollton; OL Brandon Anderson, North Cobb) and five Class 6A players on the Defense with Buford DL Bryce Perry-Wright, Collins Hill DL Deuce Geralds, Grayson LB Tyler Atkinson, Buford DB Tyriq Green and Carrollton DB Dorian Barney.

Class 6A is well-represented on the Touchdown Club of Atlanta’s preseason teams that include all classifications and ended up with a total of 11 athletes out of the 34 total slots—which includes offense (17), defense (15), a punter and kicker. All 11 of the Class 6A guys that made the Touchdown Club of Atlanta’s Preseason All-Star Team were included in Monday’s release of the classification-specific Georgia High School Football Daily’s Class 6A Preseason All-State Team. This list features 12 offensive slots, 12 defensive slots and one kicker and punter for a total of 26.

Douglas County led the way with four players (Aaron Gregory, Devin Carter, Jordan Carter and Jamar Owens) and Grayson, Carrollton and Buford each had three players make the list.  Grayson linebacker Tyler Atkinson was listed separately as the top player in Class 6A and carries the distinction of reigning GHSF Daily/AJC Class 6A Defensive Player of the Year into this season to validate that status.

The other interesting takeaway from the Class 6A Preseason All-State Team is that there are just two players on the list that are not seniors. Offensively, Brookwood running back Brayden Tyson made the list and defensively North Gwinnett’s Jake Godfree earned his place at linebacker.
