Region 3, 5, 6 and 7 will kickoff their region schedules this week and 15 of the 28 total games in Class 6A this week will be region matchups. In Region 3, all eight of the teams will be in action this week. Campbell will travel to McEachern in a battle of 3-0 teams and both teams are coming off of Week 4 byes. Undefeated Hillgrove will host 0-3 Osborne and reigning Region 3 champion Harrison will take a 3-0 record on the road to face 1-2 Pebblebrook. The fourth region battle will stage South Cobb and host Paulding County.

In Region 5, Etowah is the lone team that is off on a bye and the Eagles will open up Region play next week on the road against Marietta. This Friday, the Blue Devils will travel to Wheeler. Cherokee is set to host North Paulding and then a highly-anticipated battle is set for host North Cobb and Walton.

Just like Region 3, all eight teams in Region 6 will open up region action on Friday. Denmark is coming off its 31-14 win over Cambridge and will be hosting 0-3 Alpharetta. Last year’s region champion North Atlanta is coming off a bye and will travel to 0-3 Forsyth Central. South Forsyth and North Forsyth were both off this past week and will square off at South and then rival West Forsyth will be back from its bye week to visit Lambert—which scored a 50-40 win over Cherokee this past Friday.

Region 7 also has a full slate of region openers for all eight teams this week. Parkview will travel to Berkmar and Peachtree Ridge is set to visit Meadowcreek. Rivals Norcross and Duluth will clash at Duluth and then North Gwinnett will travel to Brookwood in a matchup that could impact the Class 6A poll.

NON-REGION ACTION

There are incredible non-region matchups to watch this week and Region 1 is loaded with them. Colquitt County is coming off a bye week to visit Lee County and Lowndes is set to host Class 4A’s Kell. Undefeated Richmond Hill is travelling to Class 4A’s Wayne County and the Yellow Jackets are still looking for their first win after a tough 0-4 start. Tift County is off to its best start since 2021 at 3-1 and will travel to Houston County in a rematch of last year’s 42-19 loss. The fifth matchup out of Region 1 will be Valdosta hosting South Gwinnett in a rematch of last year’s 27-14 victory.

In Region 2, No. 3 ranked Carrollton will visit Class 5A No. 3 ranked Gainesville for an intriguing top 10 showdown. Last year, Carrollton ran away with a 45-16 victory. This year, Gainesville carries a 29-point average margin of victory into kickoff and Carrollton has a 32.75 margin of victory. Westlake will travel to Roswell to take on the Hornets and then there are two Region 2 vs. Region 8 Class 6A showdowns. Chapel Hill will travel to Central Gwinnett and then Douglas County will travel to No. 2 ranked Buford for a top 10 showdown. Buford is coming off a 65-21 win over Roswell, while Douglas County looks to shake off a 44-31 loss to Hughes and attempt to avoid consecutive defeats for the first time since 2022.

Region 4 has just two teams in action and Grayson, Archer, Rockdale County, Grovetown and Newton will all be off on byes. Heritage-Conyers will travel to Hapeville Charter, while South Gwinnett clashes with Region 1’s Valdosta. Buford’s showdown with Douglas County and Central Gwinnett’s matchup with Chapel Hill are accompanied with Dacula’s road trip to Lanier this week on the Region 8 slate. Dacula is coming off a 42-27 win over Duluth and will try to avenge last year’s 41-14 loss to the Longhorns. Collins Hill, Mill Creek, Discovery and Mountain View are all off on Week 5 byes this week.
