It seems that Class 1A-3A Private is up for grabs and there is not an unbeatable team in the bunch. Every team in the class has at least one loss at the halfway point of the season and with the playoffs looming, let's look at how each team is positioned.

Hebron Christian is heading into Week 2 of region play. The defending A-3A champions are once again the top-ranked team in the class. The Lions are undefeated in Georgia, with their only loss coming to McCallie out of Tennessee, 24-8. They have two signature wins: a 45-29 victory over Fellowship Christian (5-1) and a 22-17 win against Blessed Trinity (4-2).

Fellowship Christian has been perfect outside of its loss to Hebron. The Paladins have faced some strong opponents, including Bowdon (4-2) in Week 1, a 26-0 win. They are currently averaging 41 points per game and have held three opponents to seven points or fewer: Osborne (1-4), a 50-7 win; Kings Ridge (5-1), a 51-7 win; and the aforementioned Bowdon.

Calvary Day (4-1) has had a strong start to the season. The Cavaliers opened 4-0 before falling to Jenkins last week. As usual, they boast some elite athletes. The duo of Baxton Bell and Emerson Lewis are both Power Four recruits. Lewis, a four-star prospect, holds offers from programs such as South Carolina and Alabama. Together, they give Calvary Day a chance in every game they play.

Prince Avenue Christian is coming off its toughest loss in recent memory. Last week, the Wolverines fell to Hart County, 31-28, their first region defeat since 2019. Despite the setback, Prince Avenue remains one of the most talented teams in the state. Quarterback Ben Musser and wide receiver Andrew Beard are both four-star juniors, headlining a roster with several other notable recruits.

Holy Innocents’ is a talented team, led by a roster dominated by underclassmen. The Golden Bears are 5-1, with their only loss coming to Blessed Trinity, 30-2. They earned their biggest win of the season last week with a 14-7 victory over traditional power Lovett (4-2). That result positioned them to challenge Carver-Atlanta (6-0) and Hapeville Charter (1-4) in Region 5-2A.

No. 1 Hebron Christian hosts Hart County.

No. 2 Prince Avenue Christian looks to bounce back against Stephens County.
