East Hall isn’t the first team most people think of when it comes to football in Hall County. Since the Vikings last made the playoffs in 2017, seven of the 10 programs in the county have earned postseason berths, including two schools that haven’t been in the GHSA since 2022. However, the 2025 Vikings have the potential to change that narrative.
Fourth-year starting quarterback Jamarcus Harrison is one of the most physically gifted signal callers in the state. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 190 pounds, he has the size college programs covet. In addition to his impressive frame, he’s a tremendous athlete capable of turning any run into a touchdown. As a quarterback, he’s still raw and has plenty of room to grow into the position, but he flashes brilliance. He has a strong arm but will need to become more consistent in his reads and accuracy.
On the recruiting trail, Harrison is committed to Kennesaw State, choosing the Owls over 12 other offers, including USF, Georgia State, and Middle Tennessee State. He’s one of the better quarterback commits in the program’s history and could become a foundational piece as Kennesaw State builds its identity at the FBS level.
Surrounding Harrison is a solid group of playmakers, led by senior wide receiver Chasen Jones. At 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, Jones is a physical athlete who thrives on the outside. He’s already received Division I offers from Wofford and Kennesaw State. After making a full recovery from a frightening car accident early in the offseason, he’s expected to be a major contributor again this year.
While the offense should be a strength, the Vikings’ success will ultimately hinge on their defense. East Hall has allowed at least 30 points per game every season for the past decade. However, the unit has shown steady improvement over the last four years, dropping from 51.6 points per game in 2021 to 34.1 in 2024, the program’s lowest mark since 2015, when they allowed 31.3 points per game. If the defense can bring that number below 30 in 2025, East Hall could have a legitimate shot at returning to the playoffs.
