West Hall High School has an elite three-sport athlete that almost no one in the state knows about. Nasser Aliou, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound standout, has dominated on both sides of the ball this season.
Following the 2024 season, West Hall head coach Krofton Montgomery stepped down. His departure sparked a flurry of transfers out of the program, most notably three-year starting quarterback Brett Sturm. That left a major void for the Spartans, but at times they’ve turned to their best player, Aliou, to fill the gap.
Aliou has helped lead the team to a 2-2 start, highlighted by his performance against Johnson-Gainesville, where he dominated defensively and contributed as both a wildcat quarterback and wide receiver, in the Spartans 40-10 victory.
He has the kind of traits college coaches look for. Aliou possesses elite straight-line speed, running a laser-timed 4.48 in the 40-yard dash. At the next level, he projects best as a hybrid safety outside linebacker. He is still raw, but his physical tools give him the potential to develop into a high-level player. At safety, he plays with physicality, using his speed to make up for technical limitations. At outside linebacker, he has shown flashes of greatness: as a pass rusher, he can beat most linemen with speed, while in run defense he sets the edge well and has the quickness to chase down ball carriers.
Of course, there are still limitations. Aliou can be a bit stiff as an athlete, though it shouldn’t hinder him at safety or linebacker. More importantly, he’s still a raw prospect who has yet to specialize in one position. Even so, his ceiling is sky-high, and his ability to contribute at wide receiver, quarterback, outside linebacker, and safety reflects not just versatility, but also a rare work ethic and love for the game.
