Fossung is the only four-year starter in the Gainesville program. In 2022, it was he, not 5-star Xavier Griffin, who earned the starting role for the Red Elephants as a freshman. He becomes the fifth starter from that 2022 team to earn the chance to play football at the FBS level, joining Alex Payne (USC, OT), Darius Cannon (Kentucky, WR), Julius Columbus (Duke, DL), and Jeremiah Telander (Tennessee, LB).
Fossung has been a productive, if an underrated, member of the Red Elephants’ front seven. He is a high-end edge rusher but somewhat of a tweener. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 215 pounds, his frame projects more naturally as an outside linebacker, but athletically, he profiles closer to a defensive end. This season, he has posted seven tackles for loss, four sacks, and seven quarterback hurries in the first four games. For his career, he has tallied 13 sacks and 26 tackles for loss.
At Tulsa, he will join a Golden Hurricane team that has started the season 2-3 under first-year head coach Tre Lamb. Lamb is the son of legendary head coach Hal Lamb who won three state titles at Calhoun, and is in his fifth season as a head coach. He has an overall record of 29-28, including a 21-16 mark over his previous three years at Gardner-Webb and East Tennessee State. He has built a reputation for steady improvement at each of his stops.
Fossung is the 19th player in Tulsa’s Class of 2026 and the only edge rusher currently committed. He is also the second Georgia prospect to pledge to the Golden Hurricane in this cycle, joining Langston Hughes 3-star cornerback Julian Bird. They are the only Georgia players to commit to Tulsa since 2020.
