Drive for the GHSA State Title Recruiting Preview: The highest ranked recruit in this matchup is Milton TE Grant Haviland. Haviland is a four-star prospect. As an uncommitted 2027 prospect, he has visited plenty of schools during his recruitment. Haviland has drawn heavy interest from Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and others, but plans to take his time with the process. He will keep a close eye on the in-state programs as well as schools like FSU and Tennessee as his recruitment continues.
The leading pass catcher for Milton is WR Jordan Carrasquillo. His production this season has resulted in several recent offers. Coastal Carolina offered him earlier this month while Liberty offered him in the last 24 hours. Carrasquillo also has power four offers from schools such as Kentucky, Indiana, Maryland, and Wake Forest.
On the defensive side, Milton has two three-star prospects that have found a home at the next level. LB Billy Weivoda is committed to Iowa. Committing to a program with a perennially great defense like Iowa’s says a lot about Weivoda’s production and potential. At 6’2” 210, Weivoda has prototypical size to succeed at the next level. Michigan and Ole Miss are two schools that continue to pursue the Iowa commit. Milton also has a three-star safety in Tristan Lester. Lester plays all over the field for Milton, racking up 38 tackles, 10.5 tackles-for-loss, and two fumble recoveries, all from his safety position. Lester committed to Marshall in June, and his commitment is holding firm.
Weivoda and Lester’s Milton squad will be tasked with stopping a dominant Roswell backfield. Nick Peal leads the Hornets in rushing at 98 yards per game. Peal received his first D1 offer from Gardner-Webb in February. The second-leading rusher for Roswell is star QB Trey Smith. The Furman commit is rushing for 85 yards per game and has accounted for 34 total touchdowns this year.
Recruiting news from around Georgia:
2027 Prince Avenue Christian RB Andrew Beard has narrowed his recruitment to five schools. Beard will focus on Georgia, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Alabama moving forward. Beard is a top five RB in the class of 2027, ranking as the 83rd best player in America. Beard is the nephew of Georgia High School Football Hall of Famer and former Georgia RB Garrison Hearst. Georgia will be in this recruitment until the end while Alabama also has a lot of buzz.
2026 Woodward Academy S Blake Stewart decommitted from Clemson in the past week. Stewart took official visits to Vanderbilt and Miami over the summer, and those two programs look to be in the lead as Stewart closes out his recruitment.
Lastly, 2027 Hampton S Kamarui Dorsey is scheduled to commit this Saturday. Dorsey recently named a top seven of Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. Texas A&M has all of the momentum in this recruitment and it would be a shocker if he does not ultimately put pen to paper with the Aggies. Dorsey is ranked as a top three player in Georgia and top five safety in the nation.
