Drive for the GHSA State Title Recruiting Preview: On Friday night, the Northgate Vikings travels to Langston Hughes to take on the Panthers in a huge Region 3-5A matchup. Northgate has several key prospects on both sides of the ball while Langston Hughes has a roster that is always littered with talent.
The highest-ranked recruit in this matchup is Langston Hughes OT Kelsey Adams. The junior is committed to Georgia and ranks as a top 60 player and a top 10 offensive tackle in America. This recruitment could go wire-to-wire as Georgia has always recruited in-state offensive linemen well, especially those from Langston Hughes.
Langston Hughes also has two key running backs with interesting recruitments. Carsyn Baker is a 2026 recruit committed to Florida while Qwantavious Wiggins, also a 2026 recruit, is committed to FIU. Despite being committed to other schools, both Baker and Wiggins are being recruited heavily by Florida State. Wiggins also reported an Auburn offer last week. Florida State recruits the state of Georgia well and is looking to join Baker and Wiggins with their teammate, TE Xavier Tiller. Tiller is a four-star FSU commit. He is locked in with the Seminoles.
Northgate has a running back of their own with a growing recruitment. 2028 RB Woody Schettini is a workhorse for the Vikings. He will have the opportunity to prove himself on a big stage this week against Langston Hughes. Schettini was on campus at Georgia Tech for their matchup against Virginia Tech. Schettini will be at Alabama this weekend for their matchup against Tennessee.
The key defensive recruit for Northgate is 2026 LB Brysen Davies. He is committed to Marshall. Davies has a huge opportunity to showcase his talent as he will spend Friday night matched up against the talented running backs from Langston Hughes.
2026 commits and decommits: Several seniors have announced their college destination and committed to in-state programs. McEachern DL Zakir Abdul-Salaam committed to KSU. This week, McEachern takes on Hillgrove in a massive Region 3-6A matchup. It is a big opportunity as Abdul-Salaam will have to perform well against a big, physical Hillgrove team.
Other commitments include Paulding County DL Timothy Dailey committing to Georgia State and Toombs County LB Hayden Roy locking in a commitment to Mercer. Both Dailey and Roy are 2026 recruits.
2027 commits and visits: The big news out of Georgia’s 2027 class came from Northside DL Elijah Patmon. The four-star pledged to Texas A&M. Patmon is a top 20 defensive lineman in the nation and a top 20 player in Georgia. Several 2027 recruits will be on the road this weekend as their team is on bye. Ola RB Caden Waye is an uncommitted four-star. He will be at Florida this weekend. Florida will also host three-star Buford LB Ethan Houser after Buford takes on Central Gwinnett.
High-profile recruits announce big news: LaDamion Guyton announced he will reclassify to the 2026 class. Guyton, despite his reclassification, is still the top player in Georgia and a top 10 player in the nation. The Benedictine product is committed to Texas Tech. It is unknown if he will also enroll early at Texas Tech.
2027 Hampton safety Kamarui Dorsey will announce his commitment on November 1st. Dorsey is down to Georgia Tech, FSU, Tennessee, LSU, Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas A&M. Texas A&M is a slight favorite in this recruitment, just ahead of Georgia and Georgia Tech. Dorsey will be in Athens for Georgia’s matchup against Ole Miss. Dorsey is a top three player in Georgia and a top five safety in the nation.
