The threat of weather from Tropical Storm and soon-to-be Hurricane Helene has already impacted the Week 7 football schedule and several teams have elected to play contests Wednesday evening while some programs have moved games up earlier to avoid the weather.

Additionally, Gwinnett County and Clayton County have postponed all after school activities including football games through the weekend. DeKalb County, Fulton County, Atlanta Public Schools and Forsyth County will evaluate their respective sites late on Friday and make a decision about postponements that would carry through the weekend. Banks County, Cherokee County, Douglas County, Gordon County, Hall County, Newton County, Paulding County, Rockdale County, Troup County and Ware County have all cancelled their after school extracurriculars for Thursday and Friday. Carroll County and Clarke County have postponed all after school extracurriculars on Thursday, and will assess their respective conditions on Friday.

The storm has been forecast to intensify through the Gulf of Mexico before impacting the Florida panhandle and South Georgia early Friday. Governor Kemp declared a state of emergency Tuesday and prepared the National Guard to respond to the storm damage.

The forecast for Friday shows that the storm could likely be into Tennessee and moving in a northerly direction but its likely that many more games will be shifted as individual school systems decide their course of action to handle the threat of severe weather.
