McEachern, Southeast Bulloch only top-ranked teams to advance; a glance at GHSA flag football semifinals

The GHSA flag football state championship schedule is set and, in the states highest Division 4, top-ranked and undefeated McEachern (27-0) moved past No. 6 Grayson 32-0 in the semifinals to earn a championship berth.

The Indians beat Shiloh 28-0, Alpharetta 21-0 and No. 5 Central Gwinnett 26-13 before matching up against Grayson in the semis.

McEachern which is wanting the teams first state title -- will play against No. 10 Lambert in the finals after the Longhorns upended No. 4 Denmark 13-12 in the semis. Lambert entered the playoffs as the No. 4 seed from Area 6 and beat North Gwinnett 7-0, Newton 26-25, No. 8 Greater Atlanta Christian 8-0 and Denmark to keep playing.

In Division 3, No. 4 Pace Academy moved past 2022 Class 5A-6A champion Lithia Springs 7-6 in the semifinals. The Knights will play Class 7A defending champion and No. 2-ranked Pope in the finals. The Greyhounds moved past top-ranked Milton 31-6 to earn the title berth.

Greenbrier entered the playoffs as the defending Class 5A-6A champion and ranked No. 2 in the Division and after beating No. 9 Jenkins 20-13 in the semifinals, the Wolfpack are in the title game again. Greenbrier will face No. 8 North Oconee after the Titans moved past Evans 13-6 in the semifinals.

Top-ranked and three-time Class 1A-4A defending champion Southeast Bulloch had little issues moving past Dodge County 27-0 to earn a shot at the programs fourth overall and fourth consecutive championship. On the other side of the bracket, No. 4 Columbus defeated No. 9 Long County 19-6 to earn a shot at the programs first title.
