Rodney Colton Jr. announced on Saturday that he will be joining Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes for the 2026 season, choosing them over Florida State and Ole Miss. He received an offer from the Buffs on January 29th and took an official visit to Boulder on June 20th before announcing his commitment there two days ago.
Colton had a stellar junior season for the Cougars as he collected 51 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss and three sacks. He is a very shifty linebacker with great mobility. Colton plays a big role on the edge of the defensive line as he gives the opposing quarterback little to no time in the pocket and locks down passing and running plays that involve utilization of the outside zones near both sidelines.
He is now the third linebacker to commit to Colorado in the 2026 class and the ninth-overall commitment for the Buffs 2026 class. Colton looks to build off last year’s performance that saw Newnan make it past the first round of the playoffs for the first time since 2015.
