Newnan’s Rodney Colton recently announced his top five schools on his social media. The 2026 4-star linebacker holds a total of 35 offers and was once committed to South Carolina.
Following his decommitment in January, Colton, who led Newnan with six sacks last season, has narrowed his list of future college choices to UCLA, Colorado, Penn State, Florida State, and Ole Miss.
Penn State has been high on Colton for a while, and Colton has a thing for calling them “LBU”.
“Look who they have produced; great linebackers, that’s legit!”
Colton is fresh off an Ole Miss visit and spoke highly of the Rebels and head coach Lane Kiffin.
“Lane Kiffin is a laid-back, chill guy, it (his visit) was legit and cool,” he said.

Another contender in his recruitment is Colorado, coached by Deion Sanders.
“Coach Hart (linebackers coach) and coach prime look after their players and they are going to push me to be the best I can be.”
Colorado’s Travis Hunter, who recently won the Heisman, went to Collins Hill high school.
He will visit Boulder this upcoming weekend.

A cross-country trip to college in Los Angeles, 1000 miles away, to attend school might take some adjusting. So why is UCLA in his top five?
“Coach White said he has something lined up for me with, and early playing time, early playing time is a big thing for me, so that I can show what I can do.”
He visited UCLA in late May.
Last, but certainly still one to watch is Florida State.
Colton said, “Coach JP (linebackers coach) and coach Ernie (assistant linebacker coach), they are good guys. Good people, and coach Ernie went to the league so I know I can learn a lot from him.”
Florida State recently got a commitment from fellow Georgia linebacker Noah Lavallee.
Colton visited Tallahassee a few weeks ago.
