In Class 6A, No. 1 ranked Grayson fortified its status at the top of the poll with a 51-3 win over Collins Hill—which exited the poll after the defeat. Valdosta entered the poll at No. 9 and opened its season with a 63-19 win over Tucker. McEachern moved up from No. 7 to No. 6 after a dominant 50-17 win over Walton in the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic.

5A saw a bit of a shake-up with Milton’s loss to Buford. The Eagles are by no means a bad team but still need to prove themselves offensively. Rome was another team to drop after a poor showing on both sides of the ball against Creekside. Roswell enters the rankings, replacing Woodward, after a dominant victory over Peachtree Ridge.

Class 4A shifted with Blessed Trinity moving up from No. 3 and No. 4 and Benedictine slid to No. 6 after a tough 27-24 loss to Colquitt County to start the season. Marist moved down to No. 7 after a 19-0 loss to Jefferson.

3A held steady, with no changes. The only ranked team to lose was Oconee County, which fell to North Oconee, while the rest of the class met expectations.

In Class 2A, Rockmart moved all the way up to No. 2 after a 56-7 win over Cedartown and Class A-3A Private changed with Wesleyan replacing Greater Atlanta Christian and debuting at No. 9.

Class A Division I saw more movement. Elbert County and Fannin County both dropped out after poor performances against Hart County and Gilmer, respectively. They were replaced by Heard County and Swainsboro, who both opened the 2025 campaign with big wins.

Class A Division II was pure chaos, with only two teams in the class winning their season openers. The top of the rankings now features a new No. 1 and No. 2, as Lincoln County and Metter made big jumps. The only team to fall out was Trion, which lost 23-12 to Gordon Lee. Johnson County took their spot after a 27-21 win over East Laurens.
