Week 1 baseball rankings

Five defending champions open atop their respective classifications. Class AAAAAAs No. 1 Parkview finished last season ranked as the top program in the entire country, but a hazing scandal rocked Lilburn and put the Panthers in the crosshairs of the nation. Catcher Austin Biggar is a UGA-commit coming off a season in which he hit .370 with a team-leading 11 homeruns. Senior Will Ethridge went 13-0 last year with a 1.47 ERA and will once again anchor the pitching staff. He is an Ole Miss signee.

Left-handed ace Jonathan Getty headlines AAAAA No. 1 Gainesvilles rotation. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound LSU signee can touch 94 MPH. Shortstop Jack Langford patrols the middle of the diamond as a defensive vacuum and holds offers from the SEC. Junior Ross Tipton has Division-1 interest as a 6-foot-5 right-handed pitcher.

In Class AAAA, second baseman Austin Wilhite (Georgia Tech) and outfielder Brandon Marsh (Kennesaw State) power No. 1 Bufords offense. Austins brother Nick is also heading to Georgia Tech to play in the outfield. No. 2 St. Pius boasts 6-foot-5 righty Garrett Gooden, a Georgia Tech signee on the mound. No. 3 Cartersville has lefty Elliott Anderson (Auburn) and Brycen Jones (Georgia Southern) toeing the bump.

Class AAA No. 1 Blessed Trinity has football quarter Conor Davis manning first base. He is signed to play at Auburn. Jackson Svete, a guard on the basketball team, is a LIU-Brooklyn signee. Possibly the most talented player in the class comes from No. 3 Westminster. Will Benson is a 6-foot-6 Bo Jackson-esque athlete, starring on the hardwood and on the diamond. He is a first baseman heading to Duke with the dreams of playing on both the basketball team and baseball team.

AA No. 1 Wesleyan leans on righty Andrew Archer (Georgia Tech) as the ace of its staff. Junior Colin Hall is an outfielder committed to Georgia Tech as well. No. 3 Mt. Parans Taylor Trammell is heading to Georgia Tech after finishing his football career as one of the best running backs in Cobb County history. Big Brady Scott will take the rubber as the Eagles top option. The 6-foot-6, 260-pound junior is a South Carolina-commit.
