The St. Pius X football program has made a change at the helm as head football coach Chad Garrison has resigned from his position.
Garrison spent five seasons as the head coach of the Golden Lions at St. Pius as they made the playoffs in four out of the five seasons he was the head coach, missing the postseason for the first time this season.
In his five seasons leading St. Pius, Garrison posted a 31-25 record with a region championship in his first year as the head coach in 2021.
In 2021, Garrison led the Golden Lions to a 9-3 record in his inaugural season and made the second round of the postseason before losing at home to Creekside, 41-34.
Garrison took over the Golden Lions football program in 2021 following 20 seasons of Paul Standard as the head coach that saw eight region championships, and two state championship appearances.
This season, following a 6-4 overall record and a 4-4 record in Region 5-4A, the Golden Lions will now be in the market for a new head coach.
Earlier today, St. Pius X Director of Athletics Joe McCurdy released the following statement.
"As you may have heard, Chad Garrison has resigned from his position as head football coach earlier today. We would like to thank Chad for his five years as head of the football program, which included four straight playoff appearances and a first-ever game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Experiences like those, along with his decades of servant leadership as well as being a fantastic role model for our young men, well be his lasting legacy."
