Buford (6A), Creekview (5A), Kell (4A), Heritage-Catoosa (3A), Sonoraville (2A), Bremen (A-Division I), Lanier County (A-Division II) and Wesleyan (Private) are the unbeatens left at the GHSA State Fast Pitch Softball Championships in Columbus after two days of play.
The teams qualified for the championship series – including defending champion Creekview, Heritage-Catoosa and Wesleyan – will wait for two remaining teams in the respective loser’s brackets to advance.
The championship series will begin at 1:15 p.m., following the loser’s bracket final, scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday.
Buford defeated East Coweta 10-0 to send the defending-champion Indians to the 6A loser’s bracket where they will face Brookwood. Creekview moved past South Effingham 6-2 to send South to the loser’s bracket to face Veterans.
In Class 4A, Kell defeated Eastside 3-2 to advance to the championship series and awaits the victor of defending-champion Harris County and Eastside in the loser’s bracket final. Heritage-Catoosa beat Cherokee Bluff 5-0 to advance to the title series and awaits West Laurens or Cherokee Bluff from the loser’s bracket.
Sonoraville defeated Appling County 9-0 and will play either Appling County or defending-champion Morgan County from the loser’s bracket. In Class A-Division I, Bremen beat Armuchee 2-1 and awaits the winner of Armuchee or defending champion Gordon Lee from the loser’s bracket.
Lanier County – the 2023 A-Division II champion – beat defending-champion Emanuel County Institute 4-0 and awaits the winner of Emanuel and Taylor County from the loser’s bracket. Wesleyan advanced to the Private championship series after beating Hebron Christian 2-0 and awaits the winner of Prince Avenue and Hebron from the loser’s bracket.
