Top-ranked Buford remains undefeated (27-0) and is one victory away from punching its ticket to Columbus and the GHSA fast pitch softball state championship.

The Wolves are in the hunt for the programs 12th state championship and a title defense after beating East Coweta 9-1 in the championship series last season. A win will propel the Wolves to their 19th consecutive trip to the state tournament in Columbus, and the program's 20th appearance since the fastpitch program was established in 2002.

In the playoff bracket this year, Buford moved past Kennesaw Mountain 13-0 and Milton 8-0 and awaits the results of the losers bracket game. Against Milton, sophomore Addie Rackley was 1-for-2 with a double, a sac fly and three RBIs. Senior Madison Pickens went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a steal. Junior Izzy Rettiger was 3-fo-3 with one double, an RBI, a run scored and a steal.
