The region races are taking shape and entering Week 9, its worth looking at where each region stands and what key games could impact playoff seedings in the coming weeks.

In Region 1, top-ranked Peach County is 2-0 and stands atop Cairo (1-0), Westover and Dougherty (1-1). The Trojans will play Bainbridge (0-7, 0-2) at home in a game where Peach is heavily favored.

In Region 2, No. 2 Sandy Creek and No. 10 Troup are tied at 4-0 with No. 4 LaGrange (4-1) Mary Persons/Whitewater (2-2) chasing. Sandy Creek will play at home against Fayette County (0-6, 0-4) while Troup will travel to Trinity Christian (2-5, 1-4) for region games this week.

In Region 3, Jenkins (5-1, 5-0) leads the Savannah league ahead of Liberty County (6-1, 5-1), Calvary Day (5-1, 4-1) and Southeast Bulloch (4-3, 4-2). Jenkins will play at home against Southeast Bulloch this week.

In Region 4, No. 7 West Laurens (6-0, 4-0) and Westside-Augusta (6-0, 4-0) are tied at the top of the league standings ahead of Aquinas/Harlem (5-1, 3-1). West Laurens travels to Richmond Academy (3-4, 3-2) while Westside will play Cross Creek (1-6, 0-5) this week.

In Region 5, No. 8 North Clayton (6-1, 3-0) leads Douglass (4-2, 2-0), No. 9 Stephenson (6-1, 2-1) and Mount Zion-Jonesboro (4-3, 2-1). North Clayton travels to Cedar Grove (3-4, 0-3) this week while Douglass will play at Luella (3-3, 1-1).

In Region 6, No. 5 North Hall (6-0, 3-0) leads No. 8 Greater Atlanta Christian (5-1, 3-0), Pickens (5-1, 2-1) and Lumpkin County (4-2, 2-1). North Hall will put its undefeated record on the line against Class A-3A Private No. 8 GAC in a key league game.

In Region 7, Northwest Whitfield (6-1, 3-0) leads No. 3 Calhoun (4-2, 2-0), Heritage-Catoosa (5-2, 2-1) and Adairsville (2-4, 1-1). Calhoun will travel to Northwest Whitfield to further determine the region’s pecking order this week.

In Region 8, No. 6 Jefferson (6-1, 2-0) leads Oconee County (5-2, 2-0), Cherokee Bluff/Monroe Area (5-2, 1-1). Jefferson is favored against East Hall (2-5, 0-2) but a key league game between Monroe Area and Cherokee Bluff Friday should have playoff implications.
