One of top players in the Class of 2027 in not only the state of Georgia but the country, in Benedictine edge rusher LaDamion Guyton announced his commitment on Thursday afternoon as he will be heading to play for the Red Raiders at Texas Tech to continue his football career.

According to 247Sports.com, Guyton is rated as the No. 2 player in the nation, the No. 1 edge rusher in the country and the No. 1 player in the state of Georgia.

The Benedictine edge rusher committed to the Red Raiders after holding offers from plenty of prestigious college football programs, but was ultimately deciding between Georgia, Tennessee and Florida State before committing to Texas Tech.

Guyton spent the first two seasons of his high school football career playing at Savannah Christian before transferring over to Benedictine for his final two seasons of prep football. In his previous two seasons at Savannah’s Christian, Guyton and Class of 2026 top-recruit and current Georgia Bulldog Elijah Griffin made for a lethal pass rush with the Raiders a season ago.

Alongside Griffin in a talented front seven for the Raiders for the last two seasons, Guyton was able to stand out accumulating 134 total tackles, 33 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks. As a sophomore a season ago, Guyton finished with 52 total tackles and 13.5 tackles for loss in just nine games, helping Savannah Christian reach the Class AAA-A Private quarterfinals.

Texas Tech has continued to make waves in the recruiting world as they recently landed prestigious 5-star offensive linemen Felix Ojo in the Class of 2026 and are pursuing many more valued recruits in the upcoming cycles.

Guyton is one of the many high-profile recruits in the Class of 2027 in the state of Georgia along with himself, Blessed Trinity edge rusher DJ Jacobs, East Coweta safety Chance Gilbert, Brooks County ATH George Lamons Jr.,Lowndes quarterback Jayce Johnson who recently committed to Texas A&M and plenty of other big name prospects that reside in the Peach State
