National Signing Day is quickly approaching and recruits around the state have continued to take visits and further along their recruiting processes as the season goes on.
Cartersville offensive lineman Langston Hogg is no exception as the three-star recruit and member of the Purple Hurricanes offensive line has recently announced that he has flipped his commitment from Tulane to Wake Forest this week.
“I had an offer from Wake Forest from the previous coaching staff,” Hogg said. “I was able to establish a relationship with the new staff and took an OV this past weekend. The culture and environment was excellent! I believe in what Coach Dickert is building and their plans for me.”
Rated as a top-100 interior linemen in the country in the Class of 2026, Hogg weighs in a 6-foot-2, 270-pounds and holds about 20 offers from college programs across the country such as Oregon, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, NC State, Arkansas and Memphis before deciding to commit to the Demon Deacons.
Hogg originally announced his commitment to Tulane in April of 2025 before recently announcing his decommitment and flip to Wake Forest on November 18th.
The three-star future Demon Deacon has been a big piece of the Purple Hurricanes offense this season as Cartersville has totaled 1,863 yards on the ground in 11 games as Hogg and the offensive line have cleared paths for their ball carriers as they are averaging over seven yards per carry on the ground.
The Purple Hurricanes have four players that have rushed for over 200 yards this season including senior Braylon Hill, sophomore Tripp Chatmon, senior PJ Richards and junior Tyon Coe with Hill leading the way with 608 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns.
Hogg and Cartersville opened up with Maynard Jackson in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs, where they shutout the Jaguars 53-0 and will now face the Warner Robins Demons for a chance at a quarterfinals berth.
The Purple Hurricanes have reached the semifinals in two of the last three seasons as they came up short a year ago after losing on the road at North Oconee, 28-26.
Cartersville is seeking its first state championship since quarterback Trevor Lawrence and head coach Joey King led them to back-to-back state championships in 2015 and 2016.
