The Parkview Panthers were among the biggest winners this past week as first-year head coach Adam Clack earned his first victory with the program as the team defeated West Forsyth 59-45. Clack previously coached at West Forsyth before taking over the Milton program and leading it to its first-ever state title in 2018. When Clack took over the Panthers this season, Parkview was coming off a 3-7 campaign. That record snapped Parkview’s nine-year playoff streak and was the worst record at the school since 2013 when the team also had a 3-7 finish.
What made this win notable was the performance out of junior running back Zandon Mullins—who led the way with 28 carries for 333 yards and three touchdowns. This production earned Mullins the Gwinnett Daily Post Player of the Week.
“Zandon is no secret to us,” said Clack. “I’ve been excited about him from the first time I watched him run the ball. He reminded me of backs I’ve had in the past who have gone on to have really good college careers. He has great speed in the open field. He runs hard. He’s not going to come down by an arm tackle. If we get him in some space to get going, he’s going to be a problem.”
Parkview is now 1-1 and will travel to Collins Hill this week for another major test. Last year, Collins Hill won this battle 27-10.
