Preseason softball rankings: East Coweta, Buford open season atop Class 6A

Top-ranked East Coweta secured its fourth state title last season in a victory against No. 2 Buford in the Class 6A championship series and the two storied programs are favorites at the top of the state’s highest class.

North Cobb, Brookwood and North Gwinnett round out the top 5. Lambert, Mill Creek, North Paulding, Denmark and Grayson fill the top10. In Class 5A, Lassiter is the top-ranked program ahead of Creekview, Seckinger, Effingham County and South Effingham in the Class 5A top 5.

Harris County opens the season atop Class 4A ahead of Cartersville, Kell, Allatoona and Eastside in the top 5. Heritage-Catoosa tops Class 3A ahead of Cherokee Bluff, Monroe Area, LaFayette and Harlem in the top5. In Class 2A, Morgan County is ranked at the top ahead of Sonoraville, Appling County, Rockmart and Pike County.

Gordon Lee opens atop Class A-Division I and leads a talented top 5 of Vidalia, Bremen, Jeff Davis and Banks County. Emanuel County Institute leads the Class A-Division II poll ahead of Lanier County, Georgia Military, Irwin County and Screven County.

Wesleyan leads Class 1A-3A Private with Hebron Christian, Prince Avenue Christian, Trinity Christian and Savannah Christian filling the top 5.
