DAILY DIVE: GHSA Cross Country sectionals Saturday to fill next week’s championship fields

Cross Country teams around the state will meet Saturday for the sectionals to determine which programs will punch their tickets to Carrollton for the GHSA State Cross Country Championships Nov. 7-8.

There are numerous sectional host sites around the state.

Harrison will host Class 6A, Alexander will host Class 5A. In Class 4A, Regions 1, 2, 3 and 4 will run at Jones County while Regions 5, 6, 7 and 8 will run at Cartersville. In Class 3A, Regions 1, 2, 3 and 4 will convene at Long County while Regions 5, 6, 7 and 8 will run at Heritage in Ringgold. East Jackson will host Class 2A’s Regions 1, 2, 3, 8 and Union County will host Regions 4, 5, 6 and 7.

In Class A-Division I, Jeff Davis will host Regions 1, 3, 4 and 8 while East Laurens will host Regions 2, 5, 6 and 7. In Class A-Division II, Wilcox County will host all regions. In the Private Championship, Wesleyan will host Areas 1 and 2 while Darlington will host Areas 3 and 4.

On the boys side, Denmark (6A), Milton (5A), Cambridge (4A), Oconee County (3A), East Jackson (2A), Bleckley County (A-Division I), Georgia Military (A-Division II) and Lovett (Private) are the defending champions.

On the girls side, Marietta (6A), Pope (5A), Marist (4A), North Hall (3A), Savannah Arts (2A), Bleckley County (A-Division I), Atlanta Classical (A-Division II) and Wesleyan (Private) are the defending champions.
