North Oconee wins its first Gymnastics event of the year beating a plethora of state powers

North Oconee won a major gymnastics meet to kick off the season on February 8. The Titans faced off against eight other teams, including Buford, West Forsyth, and Lambert, teams that have won 10 of the last 11 championships in the top classification. North Oconee finished with a score of 106.975. The teams young talent stood out at thevent, with sophomore Emma Howells and Freshman Fabiana Pombo finishing first and second in their class.
Buford finished second overall in the event and first in classification. The team placed in four events. Johanna Sassr came in second in both the vault and bars events and third on the beam, while Jillian Hynds placed third in the floor event. Additional Bellarae Newby and Ellison Gould earned fourth-place finishes in the beam and floor events, respectively.

Both Buford and North Oconee will be back in action at the XOXO competition on Saturday, February 22, in Buford. Other upcoming events will be held in Bowdon on February 26 and in Roswell on February 21.
