Pepperell is poised to be competitive in Class A-Division I and make some noise when it's time for postseason baseball.

The Dragons are 16-6 on the season overall with a 10-3 record and a second place standing in Region 6-Division I behind the one-loss Model Blue Devils.

Pepperell sits at 10th in the MaxPreps official Class A-Division I standings, with top-ranked Gordon Lee being the only undefeated team in the classification.

In Craig Sager's latest Score Atlanta Baseball Rankings, the Dragons come in at No. 7 ahead of Swainsboro, Elbert County and Washington County.

The Dragons are looking to rebound in the postseason in 2025 after losing in the second round of last season's playoffs to Tallulah Falls. Pepperell won the first game 4-2 but then were defeated in the next two games of the series, ending their season.

The Dragons are led by a veteran group of upperclassmen that have been igniting the team's offense at the plate. Out of the 21 players on the Dragons roster this season, five players are underclassmen.

Leading the way for the Dragons this season has been one of the captains of the Pepperell baseball team, Hunter Godfrey as he has been remarkable at the plate through 22 games.

In 74 at-bats this season, Godfrey is hitting .500 at the plate including two home runs, 32 RBIs and 10 doubles totaling 37 hits for the Dragons leading the team in all categories. Along with his incredible average at the plate, Godfrey has a slugging percentage of .716 and an OPS of 1.284.

Along with Godfrey, the Dragons have seven other players batting over .300 at the plate and seven players with double-digit RBIs on the season as well.

J.P. Kilgo is another senior for the Dragons that has been on a tear throughout this season as he and Godfrey have been the catalyst for the impressive numbers at the plate this season.

Kilgo is currently hitting .420 at the plate and has hit 30 RBIs on 29 hits this season, proving to be more than effective for Pepperell this season.

Godfrey, Kilgo and the rest of the Dragons are back in action on Friday as they have a big double-header matchup with Model with the first game at 4:30 p.m. and the next at 7 p.m.
