Final Softball Rankings

Eight champions were crowned in Columbus Saturday, bringing the 2021 GHSA State Fast Pitch Softball season to a close.

In the state’s highest class, North Gwinnett finished on top ahead of runner-up East Coweta, earning the program’s second state title and first since 2016. Lassiter won the 6A championship, successfully defending the 2020 title. It marked the third overall state championship for the Trojans. In Class 5A, Starr’s Mill won its first ever state championship after beating Northside-Columbus 9-0 n the championship series.

In Class 4A, Central-Carroll did what no team has done in three seasons – finish atop a class that has been won by Heritage-Catoosa since 2017. The Lions beat North Oconee 4-2 in the championship series to capture the program’s second title and first since 2016.

Appling County finished atop Class 3A and in doing so, the Pirates won the program’s first ever state title. Heard County won the program’s third state title and defended last season’s championship in Class 2A after beating Vidalia 10-6 in the championship series.

ACE Charter ended the state’s longest active state championship winning streak and won its first state title in Class A Public after a 7-0 victory over Gordon Lee in the title series.
