2009 Masters preview: Tiger primed to win fifth Green Jacket

It’s that time of year again, when the eyes of the golf community are on that one town in Eastern Georgia. The greatest players in the world have gathered in Augusta for the 72nd Masters at Augusta National. And the way Tiger is smiling in this shot from a practice round this week, you’d think he was already on his victory stroll. The action has already begun at the old course, with South African Tim Clark winning the annual par-3 round on Wednesday. Why shouldn’t Clark be celebrating all that loudly? No winner of the Wednesday par-3, which has been held since 1960, has gone on to win the tournament.

ESPN’s pre-tournament coverage of golf’s biggest event includes a prediction column from writer Jason Sobel; CBS, the weekend broadcast home of The Masters, is all over it as well on its website, offering an interesting column on some of the young stars that are getting their first taste of Augusta.

Stay with Scoreatl.com this week, as we will have daily blogs from reporter Cranston Collier, who will be in attendance at the event.
