Aquinas SG Ahmed Hill may re-open recruitment

Aquinas High School

In the wake of former Marquette coach Buzz Williams leaving for the Virginia Tech job, Aquinas shooting guard Ahmed Hill faces a decision. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound star was offered by several major college basketball programs, but signed with the Golden Eagles due to his close relationship with Williams.

“I am going to see who (Marquette) hires before making a decision,” Hill said today.

Should Hill decide to rescind his scholarship signing, Virginia Tech would obviously be one of the favorites due to his relationship with Williams.

“Missouri and some others offered me (prior to his signing with Marquette), but I will listen to whoever calls me,” said Hill.

Despite offers from programs like Missouri, Indiana, Florida Kansas, UConn, Georgia and Georgia Tech, Hill thinks he would have to reconsider his favorites should he rescind his scholarship as some schools may have signed players at his position.

Hill found out about Williams’ departure right after the former Marquette coach broke the news to the team. Williams then followed up with a phone call.

Hill was rated a 4-star by ESPN, 24-7 Sports, Scout and Rivals.com.

UPDATE April 17

Marquette hired former Duke assistant Steve Wojciechowski and Hill has decided to back out on his signature with the Milwaukee school. Hill favored Missouri during there recruiting process, but Tiger coach Frank Haith is reportedly thinking about leaving for Tulsa.
