The defending Class AAAAA champion Parkview Panthers, ranked No. 4 in Class AAAAAA, bounced back from a loss to rival No. 10 Brookwood with a 5-3 victory over Archer Wednesday as Christian Vann struck out eight over six innings. Micah Finley was perfect at the plate with four hits and three RBIs. Brookwood, meanwhile, could not build off its upset of Parkview by falling to Dacula 5-2. Dylan Brown was clutch on the mound for Dacula, striking out six. Chance Keefer recorded the save for the Falcons while also providing three hits at the plate. … Class AAA No. 2 Buford took advantage of six No. 3 North Hall errors to exact a small measure of revenge over the Trojans, who had previously defeated Buford in region play. Jake Higginbotham earned the win in relief with seven strikeouts in three innings of work. … McEachern slipped past Harrison 4-3 as the Indians scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a Harrison fielding error. Trey Harris had a two-run triple to tie the game before Jared Walker scored the winning run on an error by the Hoyas’ third baseman. … Kell also took advantage of a miscue to escape with a victory over Sprayberry. The Longhorns rallied from a 4-2 hole to win 5-4 after Bradley Taylor scored the game-winning run on a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ryan Losito helped Kell rally with two hits and two runs driven in. … Osborne also won Wednesday by a 5-4 score when Martin Logan drove home Nile Goings with two outs in the seventh inning. Logan earlier crushed a two-run home run to help Osborne pull off the win. … Class AAAAAA No. 2 Walton crushed Cherokee 16-2 as Stephen Wrenn provided two hits and an RBI while Luke Manzo tallied five hits and drove home one. Henry Rowling got in on the fun with a three-run home run, part of a Raiders’ eight-run first-inning outburst. … Finally, Class AA No. 2 Jefferson swept a Wednesday doubleheader against Social Circle. The Dragons run-ruled Social Circle in the first game 13-1 before slipping past in Game 2 1-0. Jake Franklin had three hits and two RBIs in the first game before earning the win in the second contest.
