COACH’S JOURNAL: Players quickly picking up new offense

New Centennial football coach Jeffrey Carlberg is quickly putting his fingerprints all over the Knights program, and he has invited Score along for the ride during his first year at the helm. Here are highlights from last week.

Spring practice is underway and the kids are playing with great intensity and desire. The coaches have been very pleased with the effort that is being exhibited by our players, and I have liked what I have seen from our coaches as well. The assistant coaches have done a great job teaching and coaching the kids in a positive manner while motivating them to succeed.

We are six practices in and leadership is really starting to come to the forefront. I am now starting to see who may be able to help us this season. With such a dynamic shift in offensive philosophy, we have been impressed with the way in which the kids have caught on to the system.

Our young kids (rising freshmen and sophomores) are showing great promise as well. We currently have about 100 kids in all four grades going through spring practice. We still have several playing other spring sports, so we expect that number to increase by about 30 once summer practice begins.
