Corky Kell 7-on-7 Tournament Preview: Top 25 Prospects

The Seventh Annual Corky Kell 7-on-7 Tournament is returning on Friday, June 11 and will feature a 45-team field of the state’s top programs. Pool play will take place at Roswell Area Park, Blessed Trinity, Alpharetta, Fellowship Christian and King’s Ridge Christian in the morning session before the single elimination tournament is played solely at Roswell Area Park’s multiple fields.

Since the inaugural 2014 tournament, the immense collection of star power participating in the event attracts massive attention as top prospects from around the state compete in the thrilling single-elimination format. This year is poised to be one of the most talented fields in the event’s history and dozens of top-rated players are set to take the field, despite the fact that offensive and defensive linemen are excluded in the 7-on-7 format. In total, 21 of the state’s top 100 Class of 2022 prospects and six of the top 14 prospects in the Class of 2023 will be at this year’s tournament. Here’s a look at the top 25 highest rated players that will be taking the field:

1. Travis Hunter (Collins Hill, CB/WR) Hunter is the No. 1 prospect in the state for the Class of 2022 and is a five-star currently committed to Florida State. His explosive playmaking ability helped lead Collins Hill to the finals for the first time in school history this past season. Hunter finished the 2020 season with 137 receptions for 1,731 yards and 24 touchdowns and added 51 tackles and a team-high eight interceptions—earning him National MaxPreps Junior of the Year.

2. Gunner Stockton (Rabun County, QB) Stockton is the top-rated quarterback in the state for the Class of 2022 and is a four-star prospect committed to Georgia. Stockton has accounted for 122 passing touchdowns, 9,518 passing yards, 3,416 rushing yards and 62 rushing touchdowns over the past three years as a starter.

3. Oscar Delp (West Forsyth, TE) Delp is the No. 8 ranked prospect in the state and the No. 2 rated tight end in the nation for the Class of 2022. The 6-foot-5 rising senior has 33 offers on the table—including Georgia and Michigan. Delp played in nine games this past season and led the Wolverines with a team-high nine receiving touchdowns.

4. Caleb Downs (Mill Creek, S) Downs is the No. 3 ranked prospect in the state for the Class of 2023 and has made a name for himself over the past two seasons starting in the Hawks’ secondary as an underclassman. The 6-foot Downs and son of former NFL running back Gary Downs is a three-sport athlete (football, baseball, basketball) that can also contribute on the offensive side of the ball.

5. Sam Horn (Collins Hill, QB) Horn has passed for 6,236 yards and 63 touchdowns over the past two seasons as Collins Hill’s starting quarterback and pledged his commitment to Missouri in February after helping the Eagles reach the Class 7A finals. Horn is rated as the No. 9 overall prospect in the state for the Class of 2022.

6. Dylan Lonergan (Brookwood, QB) Lonergan has helped transform the Brookwood offense into a highly-effective passing attack and is the No. 4 ranked prospect in the state for the Class of 2023. Lonergan was leading the state in passing before a leg injury sidelined him midway through this past season and threw 18 touchdown passes through those first six starts. He is the son of Penn State quarterback Dan Lonergan and is a four-star prospect. Lonergan is also a highly-rated baseball prospect and he has offers to play baseball and football at schools like Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, Vanderbilt and Penn State.

7. Kojo Antwi (Lambert, WR) Antwi has been Lambert’s leading receiver the past two seasons and has ascended to the No. 10 rated prospect in the state for the Class of 2022. He has already picked up 34 offers and averaged 18.1 yards per reception this past season to go with his team-high nine touchdown receptions.

8. Marquis Groves-Killebrew (Brookwood, CB) Killebrew committed to play at Georgia the summer before his junior season and is the No. 11 ranked prospect in the Class of 2022. Kilebrew was named to a MaxPreps Second-Team All American this past season.

9. Avieon Terrell (Westlake, CB) Terrell had a breakout freshman season with five interceptions before starring for the Lions this past season. Terrell is the brother of Falcons first-round pick AJ Terrell and Georgia’s No. 3 ranked overall prospect for the Class of 2023.

10. Daniel Martin (Marietta, LB) Martin has the speed and athleticism to catch passes in the Blue Devils’ offense and lead at the linebacker position. This past season, the four-star registered 896 receiving yards and eight touchdowns to go with his 43 tackles and trio of sacks.

11. MJ Morris (Pace Academy, QB) Morris committed to play at NC State earlier this month (June 3) and is the No. 20 ranked player in the state for the Class of 2022. Morris is a true dual-threat talent that threw 14 passes in his eight starts this past season.

12. Samuel Mbake (Brookwood, WR) Mbake is a physical 6-foot-3, 205-pound wideout that is a four-star prospect and the No. 26 ranked player in the state for the Class of 2022. Mbake racked up 54 receptions and five receiving touchdowns this past season and is expected to be the Broncos leading receiver this season.

13. Ethan Nation (Roswell, CB) Nation is another ultra-talented cornerback participating in this year’s 7-on-7 tournament. He already has 41 total offers heading into his junior season and is the No. 12 ranked player in the state for the Class of 2023. Nation posted 35 tackles and eight interceptions this past season to validate his four-star status.

14. Ethan Davis (Collins Hill, TE) Davis is the ideal two-sport star that combines his basketball and football abilities to be a highly-effective tight end. Davis is ranked the No. 10 tight end in the nation for the Class of 2023 and picked up offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida, Texas, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Kentucky and LSU this past month—a testament to his soaring stock as a 6-foot-5 prospect. Davis is also being recruited to play basketball by several programs—including the University of Georgia.

15. Marcus Allen (Walton, CB) Allen is a 6-foot-2 cornerback that is the No. 33 ranked prospect in the state for the Class of 2023. He has already received more than 30 offers and is coming off a 58-tackle, two-interception junior season.

16. Dainsus Miller (Creekside, S) Miller is a versatile defensive back that showcased his incredible athleticism at this spring’s track and field championships. He won the state meet in the 300-meter hurdles (37.88) and the triple jump (46-10), while also anchoring Creekside’s 4×400 relay team. Miller has picked up 25 offers so far and is the No. 41 ranked prospect in the state for the Class of 2022.

17. AJ Swann (Cherokee, QB) Swann is a multi-year starter for Cherokee that has lifted the Warriors to one of the top teams in Georgia’s top classification. The 6-foot-3 Swann is the No. 58 ranked prospect in the state for the Class of 2022 and committed to Maryland this past March. Swann earned Region 5-AAAAAAA Player of the Year this past season and was also a Georgia Elite Classic participant that has passed for 4,548 yards and 41 over the last two seasons.

18. Bryce Archie (McEachern, QB) Archie is a two-sport athlete with a powerful arm that has registered 93 mph on the pitching mound. In fact, Georgia State and Kennesaw State have already offered him baseball scholarships. On the gridiron, Archie is the No. 64 ranked prospect in the state for the Class of 2022 and committed to Coastal Carolina in April.

19. Terian Williams II (Johns Creek, ATH) Williams is a versatile playmaker that played a key defensive role for Johns Creek this past season. His broad skillset has earned him more than 40 total offers and he is the No. 74 ranked overall prospect in the state for the Class of 2022.

20. Caleb Wooden (Archer, S) Wooden is the latest top defensive back to come through the Archer program and he is projecting to play safety with is Power 5 6-foot-2 frame. Wooden is the No. 75 ranked prospect in the state for the Class of 2022 and picked up an offer from West Virginia this past March.

21. JC French (Blessed Trinity, QB) French is the No. 82 ranked prospect in the state for the Class of 2022 and has picked up 15 offers over the past year. French completed 78.4 percent of his passes this last season for the Titans.

22. Zak Rozsman (Walton, QB) Rozsman has started for Walton the last three seasons and enters his senior season as the No. 90 ranked prospect in the state for the Class of 2022. Rozsman committed to play at Appalachian State this past March and is a 6-foot-2 Pro-Style quarterback poised to have a huge senior season.

23. DJ Moore (Archer, WR) Moore is the No. 95 ranked prospect in the state for the Class of 2022 and has a 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame. The three-star Moore committed to play for Georgia Tech late last month.

24. Rawson MacNeill (Walton, WR) MacNeill is a 6-foot-5 target that earned Offensive MVP at this past year’s Georgia Elite Classic after finishing with a game-high 115 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He is the No. 97 ranked prospect in the state for the Class of 2022 and continues to climb the recruiting ranks.

25. Sutton Smith (Walton, RB) Smith is a three-star running back committed to Memphis. Smith has breakaway speed and clocked a 11.24 in the 100 meter dash this past spring. He played for McEachern last season before transferring to Walton and has proven to be an effective pass catcher out of the backfield as well.

Another major Class of 2022 prospect participating in this year’s tournament is River Ridge running back Amehre Morrison. This past season, Morrison racked up 1,958 yards off 265 carries (7.4 ypc) and rushed for a state-high 29 touchdowns—helping lead River Ridge to a school-record 11-1 finish.
