COVID forces top-ranked Marist to shut down and Chapel Hill matchup

Class 4A’s No.1 ranked team, Marist High School, will cancel its upcoming football game against Chapel Hill this Friday. The cancellation of this upcoming Friday night matchup is related to COVID and the breaking news reported by the AJC has minor details on the current situation. Marist is currently ranked at the top of Class 4A and has posted an undefeated 3-0 start that includes a 113-3 scoring advantage. This past week, Marist posted a dominant 45-0 win against Hampton.

As a result of this shutdown, Marist will not play its next game again until Oct. 16 as they have a Week 6 bye. The War Eagles’ next scheduled game is against No. 10 Hapeville Charter in both team’s Region 6 opener. Hapeville Charter currently has a 0-2 record and is slated to visit Marist on Oct. 16 with a 7:30 p.m. scheduled kickoff.
