During the first big cross country weekend of the year, three major meets took place that included many metro programs.

The largest meet of the weekend was the Berry College Clara Bowl Invitational, which played host to nearly 75 of the top programs in the southeast. St. Pius earned first with Austin Sprague and Joseph Ferrugia posting top-five finishes. Peachtree Ridge’s Kevin Mills finished first overall and the second-place Lions finished with an average time just three seconds behind St. Pius.

In the boys A-AAAA race, Bryce Schubert and Quintin Miles led North Hall to a first-place finish. Galloway’s Reilly Friedman finished with the fastest time, but the Scots finished eighth overall. On the girls side, Peachtree Ridge was led by Addy Lippit, and finished first ahead of Harrison and Dunwoody. In the A-AAAA girls race, St. Pius edged Lovett for the top spot.

Participating in the University of Georgia Invitational was Centennial, Forsyth Central, Kell, Lambert, Mountain View, North Oconee, Oconee County, Sprayberry and Walton. Kenan Farmer, Andrew Singh and Connor Kilch led the Walton boys to a first-place finish. North Oconee edged Mountain View for second place and Centennial and Oconee County rounded out the top five. The Raiders girls also finished first with junior Avery Bussjager leading the way.

The Landmark Cross Country Invitational hosted 15 teams and the boys Sandy Creek team clocked in ahead of second place Landmark Christian. The Landmark Christian girls cruised to a first place finish with the Eagles posting four of the six fastest times. Landmark Christian freshman Nicole Fegans placed second behind her sophomore teammate Kathryn Foreman. In the Bleckley County Classic, which spans two miles, host Bleckley County earned top finishes in boys and girls.
