Distance between quarterfinal opponents

Hart County Bulldogs

The quarterfinals saw the first use of coin flips since the tiebreakers before the initial playoff seeding and there were a total of eight matchups that used coin flips to determine home field. In Class AAAAAA, Colquitt County saved itself a 229 one-way trip to Milton and will now host the top-seeded Eagles after winning the toss.

The shortest distance between opponents is in Class AAAA. Metro Atlanta’s dominance in last week’s games in Class AAAA results in much less travel than last week. The second round saw an average distance of 144.5 miles between opponents but the quarterfinals are a manageable 76.6 miles per game in AAAA.

Class AA once again will log an incredible amount of miles this round. The shortest distance between opponents is a 186-mile drive between Vidalia and GAC and the average distance that the four visiting teams must travel is 214 miles per game.
